I Devour Myself

A zombie lurks in the enclosing darkness,

Wearing a face similar to my own

It glowers with scarlet eyes of brimstone,

Boring a deep hole into my crumbling soul

Blood oozes from the wound, trickling like rain drops

As they travel down fogged windows

The potent scent of copper fills stagnant air,

The creature rearing its crumpled head

It tenses sharp bony fingers, ready to pounce

Finally, the monster strikes with a strangled snarl

From the inside out, I devour myself

An abomination I become
