For today, I have two slightly different versions of the same poem! The first version is a haiku, while the second is a tanka poem. As such, they are of differing length, and phrases/words have been added and rearranged in each poem. However, I wrote both based on the same theme and ideas. I hope you enjoy them!
Version 1/ Haiku
Pray at sacred shrine
Crimson gate towers above
Cross over again

Version 2/ Tanka
Summer cicadas
Screech, their shrill melody drifts
Crimson gate appears
In the aqua sky, kneel down
And pray at the sacred shrine

This is the first time I’ve posted a poem comparison, so I’d love to hear any feedback you might have! Which poem did you like better, and why? I’d really like to hear your thoughts on this! Feel free to leave a comment below and let me know!
