Thoughts swirling downward in a spiral of doubt
Below the fractured surface, darkness quietly rumbles
It waits for the opportune moment to strike,
Its serpentine tendrils squeezing around my tender flesh
Held in a crushing vice grip, despair infects my mind
Every trace of hope slowly trickles out,
Scarlet rivulets fading into nothingness
My mind whirls in a void of paranoia,
Thoughts racing so fast my head spins,
Emotions become indistinguishable from one another,
Mixing into murky puddles until only a cold apathy remains
Heart pounds, thumping along to an eerie, uneven rhythm
I can’t recognize the softly sweet beat it used to play
Comfort is out of reach, although my trembling hands always grab at it
Safety is far in the distance of a bleak horizon,
Lost to an uncertain future I constantly agonize over
Finally, my crumbling mind surrenders to the horrors it made
I accept this is my stark reality

Excellent, stark and deep poem indeed!
Abdominal breathing for 20 to 30 minutes each day can reduce anxiety and reduce stress. Deep breathing increases the supply of oxygen to your brain and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes a state of calmness.
lol: Works for me…😳…😎…🧸

Thank you very much for the kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed this piece! 😊
And thanks for the advice as well! I’ll have to try it out. Anything that can reduce anxiety sounds good to me, haha!
