Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day, a somewhat somber occasion. It’s a time to honor and mourn those who have died while serving in the military and protecting us citizens. These brave, courageous people sacrificed themselves in order to protect others. They fought for a cause they believed in. They’re amazing and truly deserve to be honored for all they have done.

Many veterans faced discrimination and hate after coming back home, from their own people. They were ridiculed, and sometimes still are, for risking their own lives for their country. I think it’s horrible that this used to happen, and still does. Our veterans and soldiers should be treated better, always. Not only did they risk their lives, many of them ended up with lifelong trauma from what they experienced while serving. This is the type of sacrifice that can never be measured.

My own grandpa served in the military for years. Sadly, he passed away from lung cancer several years ago. His loss was profound and is still felt today. But he died as a veteran, with an American flag to honor him. I’m very proud of him for serving his country and trying to make a difference; I always will be. So, let’s take a moment today to honor the brave soldiers we’ve lost, and the ones who are still serving. They deserve it.

    1. Of course, you’re very welcome! There are so many people who’ve sacrificed their lives, and no matter what, much is sacrificed fighting for their country. I figured this was a small way I could honor their sacrifices and lives. πŸ’œ

      1. It does seem like people don’t acknowledge it as much these days, which is very sad. These people gave up their lives for us, and even those who survived still sacrificed a lot. I think it’s really important to honor them and keep them in our memory, always. πŸ’œ
