Crumbling into ruin,
This cruel, bitter world
Consumes the best of us
A trial to survive,
Sanity slipping all the while
Making it another day,
A truly commendable feat
Creatures thirsting for blood,
Humans even more dangerous,
Countless nightmares awaiting us
Regardless, we continue on,
Living the most we can
Through seasons present and past,
I walk on, gripping your hand
The two of us,
Surviving together

I wrote this poem based off of the video game The Last of Us, in 2019. And I thought now would be a good time to share it. Because guess what? The Last of Us Part II comes out tomorrow (as of the date this was originally posted, June 18, 2020)! I’m SO excited to play it and see where the story goes next!
The Last of Us was the first game I ever played on PlayStation 3, and it’s one that has stuck with me ever since. It’s truly a masterpiece of a game, with a great story and excellent characters. While playing it, there were times I cried, times I laughed, and times I smiled. I formed a deep connection to the characters, despite them being fictional. I genuinely wanted to see their journey through to the end. And I can’t wait to see where Ellie and Joel’s journey takes them next.
