We may be nearing the end of Halloween season, but it’s never too late to do a spooky tag to celebrate the wonderfully horrific holiday! So, today, I have a special Halloween tag post for all of you. I hope you enjoy it!
Big, big thanks to Karalee of Tales of Belle for inviting me to participate in the Hallotober Tag! Karalee has an amazing blog that covers a variety of fun topics, including books, makeup/beauty, lifestyle, and video games. Make sure to check out her blog and posts, along with her lovely response to the Hallotober Tag! I’d recommend visiting Jordanne, the creator of this tag, at The Life of a Glasgow Girl, too.

The Questions
1. What’s your favourite thing about October?
I love the mild weather that’s neither too hot nor cold. I’m not great at handling hot temperatures, so for me, it’s a really welcome change of pace from the spring and summer seasons. And of course, I love that October is home to my absolute favorite holiday, Halloween!
2. Are you a big celebrator of Halloween?
Yes, definitely! Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I always adore this time of year. I’d have all the Halloween decorations in the world if I could, haha.
3. What’s your favourite horror movie?
Ooh, this is a tough one. Horror is my favorite movie genre, so I’ve built up many favorites over the years. I don’t think I can settle on a definite favorite, but I can tell you a few of my all time favorite films. Train to Busan is an amazing Korean horror/action movie about a father and daughter caught in a zombie outbreak on a train. Another great example of Korean horror is A Tale of Two Sisters, which is unsettling, unnerving, and incredibly atmospheric. For American favorites, You’re Next and The Final Girls are two movies I love for how unique and refreshing they are.
4. Would you rather a cozy night in watching horrors or a big night out in a costume?
I’d definitely rather have a cozy night in watching horror movies and cuddling with my kitties! In fact, that’s mostly how I’ve spent this Halloween season.
5. Which has been your most favourite costume to date?
To this day, a Jigglypuff (from Pokemon) costume I wore as a child is still one of my favorites. The costume was huge, poofy, and I probably looked ridiculous in it, but I loved wearing that thing. It was actually pretty accurate to Jigglypuff, too!
6. Bobbing for apples or pin the hat on the witch?
I have to go with pin the hat on the witch. I’m kind of a germaphobe, so the idea of bobbing for apples has always freaked me out, haha.
7. How do you celebrate Halloween?
For the most part, my family and I stick to decorating and watching spooky movies. We decorate the entire living room and kitchen area in Halloween decorations, so that everything is decked out for our favorite holiday. Then, we spend most nights on the couch together watching horror films and being spooked.
8. What’s your least favourite horror?
Honestly, I haven’t seen too many horror movies I disliked that much. But, one I can warn you against watching is a movie called Bleed. It was about a group of friends becoming trapped in an abandoned, haunted prison. The movie was weird, uninteresting, poorly paced, and ended so abruptly. My mom and I wondered what we had just watched afterward.
9. Do you have a favourite trick or treating memory?
Yes! In fourth or fifth grade, I went trick-or-treating with my best friend (we’re still friends today) around my neighborhood, and I just remember it being so fun. We were laughing almost constantly as we went from door to door for candy, enjoying spending time together and joking around. Our costumes were pretty great from what I remember, too!
10. What’s your favourite thing about Halloween?
Oh jeez, I adore so many things about Halloween. But, if I had to choose a favorite, I think I’d go with the decorations. I feel like there’s no better indication that Halloween is right around the corner than seeing stores packed with spooky skeletons, witches, bats, and other various creepy creatures. And like I said, I’d have all the Halloween decorations in the world if I could. It’s also a goal of mine to someday have my house decorated like one of those extreme Halloween setups you see on TV.
11. Scary costume or Silly costume?
Silly is great, too, but I always prefer a scary costume!
12. What’s your favourite Halloween candy?
I don’t even have to think about this one. Reese’s Pumpkins are my favorite Halloween candy, hands down! They have the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter and are just so yummy. This is the ultimate Reese’s experience.
13. What is your favourite scary/Halloween book?
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake is definitely a favorite. It’s a YA book, but still manages to be creepy and unnerving. Plus, it has fantastic, unique characters and an interesting plot. I’m very fond of both Coraline and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman as well.

I’m posting this a bit late, and I don’t want anyone to feel pressured to participate in the Hallotober Tag on such short notice. So, I’ll just open up nominations to any and all who want to participate! If you do decide to join, I hope you have lots of spooky fun doing this tag! 🎃👻🔮

In the 40s and 50s, most people would let you in their house, give you a treat, and try to guess who you were!
Only have a few memories worth noting from the 60s on!

Wow, that’s so cool! I bet you have some really interesting stories and memories from that. I wish people could still do that today, but sadly, I imagine it wouldn’t be very safe in today’s world.
